MusicMain Removal Guide

Do you know what MusicMain is?

If you are trying to save money when purchasing tickets to live events, or you want to download music completely free of charge, MusicMain might look like a beneficial program. In fact, the services of this ad-supported program are not beneficial at all. This adware was created to show ads, surveys, and offers, promote third-party websites and services and collect information about you. Unfortunately, this seemingly beneficial program could be a perfect instrument for schemers. They could easily expose you to scams, malicious installers, and useless services or products using this adware. After testing this app in our internal lab, it became clear to us that it offers no beneficial services, and removing it is the only logical thing to do. Do not worry if you have no clue how to delete MusicMain from your Windows operating system. This report provides more information about the infection itself and explains in detail how to eliminate it successfully.

According to our research, this adware is very similar to NewsCert and Moneyzila, both of which are classified as potentially unwanted programs. We classify MusicMain as adware rather than a PUP because it does not operate as a regular program, and its main function is to show ads and redirect you to pages showing ads. If you have installed this unreliable program onto your operating system, you must have noticed that it does not actually stream music or show cheaper tickets. Instead, it provides two links to sites that supposedly can offer you these services. The GUI of this adware is just a window that opens a web page, musicmain.com/redir.php, that might automatically redirect you to a different page. Regardless of which page shows up, it is most likely that you will find shortcuts two different pages, the first one leading to scorebig.com and the second one to last.fm. Although we do not claim that these websites are malicious, you should not trust access to them provided by some unreliable adware. We also recommend ignoring all offers shown via pandaresearch.com, lamphouseoffers.com, paidsurveyupdate.com, electronics-sweepstakes.com, and similar websites.MusicMain Removal GuideMusicMain screenshot

The suspicious MusicMain could not redirect you to random pages and show ads if it did not have files. These files are located in a folder named after the program under C:\Program Files or C:\Program Files (x86), depending on your Windows system. This adware is also operated using registry keys. These keys can be found under {HKCU/HKLM}\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\DOMStorage\ and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\. If you decide to delete this adware one element at a time, make sure you remove all files, registry keys, and shortcuts (Desktop and Start menu). Fortunately, there are two easier ways to get rid of this adware. We advise using automated malware removal software, and we believe this is the best option, considering that other infections are likely to be active as well. Alternatively, you can uninstall this adware as shown in the instructions below; however, in that case, you must not forget about other threats.

Whether you have downloaded adware from musicmain.com or using the services of a third-party software distributor, it is most likely that other infections could have slithered in as well. If this adware is downloaded using the InstallCore downloader, you can expect to find System Healer, MyPCBackUp, Search Know, Sweet-page.com, Yoursearching.com, and other suspicious software installed. Note that this adware could be hidden in software bundles, and it could be introduced to you via modified search results. All in all, as soon as you discover this strange ad-supported program, make sure you scan your operating system to see if you need to eliminate any other threats. If you ignore malware and let it roam free, your virtual security could be jeopardized before you know it.

In non-techie terms:

It is important to remove MusicMain because this program is nothing but trouble. The longer it stays active on your operating system the more ads it will show. Unfortunately, the advertisements shown by this ad-supported program could be extremely misleading and malicious. What is more, it is likely that this program will spy on you and leak information about your activity to advertisers to help them attract you with more personal offers. If you choose to remove this malicious adware manually, do not forget to eliminate all other threats as well. Luckily, you will not need to worry about this if you install reliable anti-malware software.
