How to change TCP/IP settings?

Windows XP:

  1. Open the Start menu and click on the Control Panel.
  2. Go to Network Connections and double-click Local Area Connection.
  3. Go to properties and click once on Internet Protocol (TCP/IP).
  4. Move to Properties and select “Obtain an IP address automatically” and “Obtain DNS server address automatically”. Hit OK.

Windows Vista:

  1. Open the Start menu and click on the Control Panel.
  2. Go to Network and Internet and then to Network and Sharing Center.
  3. Here click Manage Network Connections and right-click on your selection.
  4. Click Properties and then on the Networking tab.
  5. Depending on your system, select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) or Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6).
  6. Move to Properties and select “Obtain an IP address automatically” and “Obtain DNS server address automatically”. Hit OK.

Windows 7:

  1. Open the Start menu and click on the Control Panel.
  2. Navigate to the search at the top of the page, type “adapter” and hit Enter.
  3. Go to Network and Sharing Center and select View Network Connections.
  4. Right-click on the connection and go to Properties.
  5. Now click on the Networking tab and select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) or Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6).
  6. Move to Properties and select “Obtain an IP address automatically” and “Obtain DNS server address automatically”. Hit OK.

How to change the Windows Hosts File?

  1. Find the Hosts File under C:\Windows\system32\drivers\etc.
  2. Double-click on the Hosts file and use Notepad to open it.
  3. Find “127.0.0.1 localhost” (all Windows versions) or “::1” (Windows Vista/7) and delete other existing lines, leaving the Copyright message. Save the changes.

How to remove add-ons/extensions?

  2. Select Tools and go to Extensions.
