What are cookies? Cookies are files that contain customized information for a web page that you have visited. Usually a cookie file contains information such as login names or passwords. In some cases people wish to delete the stored cookies especially when you use a shared computer. Deleting the cookies every so often is a good practice to protect your privacy when your computer is used by other people who access the internet.

If you are currently running Internet Explorer 7 and you would like to manually delete your cookies please follow the steps below.
How to manually delete cookies in Internet Explorer 7
- Close all of your running programs including Internet Explorer.
- Click on Start > Run > type in inetcpl.cpl and press enter.
- When you see the window come up make sure you are in the General Tab.
- Click Delete under Browsing History in the Internet Options dialog box.
- While in the Delete Browsing History dialog box, click the button Delete Cookies one time.
- When the dialog comes up asking you "Are you sure you want to delete all cookies in the Temporary Internet Files folder?" select Yes.
- Your computer may take a while to delete all of the cookie files depending on the speed of your system.
- After it has completed you can close each dialog box.

If you are running Internet Explorer 6 and you want to delete the cookie files you can follow the steps below.
How to manually delete cookies in Internet Explorer 6
- Close all o f your running programs including Internet Explorer.
- Click on Start > Run > type in inetcpl.cpl and press enter.
- When you see the window come up make sure you are in the General Tab.
- Click Delete Cookies under Temporary Internet Files.
- When it asks you "Delete all cookies in the Temporary Internet Files folder?" select OK.
- Click on the Delete Files button.
- Select the Delete all offline content check box and then select OK.
- Your computer may take several minutes to delete all of the files depending on how much space it is taking up.
- Close the Internet Options window.
