DownPay Removal Guide

Do you know what DownPay is?

DownPay is an adware application that employs tracking cookies to collect information on your web browsing habits. As an adware program, DownPay has been created to help its developers generate financial profit. This application is not downright malicious, but due to its vulnerability to third-party exploitation, DownPay can be considered a potentially unwanted program. Hence, it is not a good idea to keep this application on your system. Remove DownPay from your computer as soon as you can, and then search for other adware applications that might have arrived with it.

As far as the technical side of this application is concerned, we know exactly where it comes from: DownPay is based on the Justplugit engine and is primarily distributed via InstallRex installer. Does that sound familiar? If so, you must have encountered other adware applications from the same family before. To put it simply, DownPay is the same as RightCoupon, RealDeal, TicTacCoupon, LuckyCoupon, and many other programs that try to convince unsuspecting users they the programs are useful. DownPay also masquerades as a browser extension that is supposed to collect data on various deals and discount offers across multiple online stores, but the application clearly cannot do that.

Rather than informing you about your favorite goods, DownPay displays annoying commercial advertisements that slow down your browser and expose you to potentially dangerous content. The problem is that DownPay and other similar applications DO NOT review what gets embedded in their ads. In this situation, this adware program functions as a mere tool or a distribution service for third-party content. It basically washes its hands of this situation, by stating in its privacy policy that third-party content is none of its concern. As such, it renders the users themselves responsible for their online safety.

The best way to protect your system from the likes of DownPay is to avoid download freeware apps. Also, you should stay away from random pop-ups that suddenly appear on your browser out of nowhere. Close them immediately and then scan your computer with a licensed antispyware application to search for potentially unwanted applications. If you are constantly bombarded by annoying pop-ups, you are bound to have some adware applications on board.

Eventually, remove DownPay and all the other related applications from your computer. You can uninstall the program via Control Panel, but do not forget that you will also have to delete the extension from Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome browser manually. If you think your computer needs constant protection, acquire a genuine computer security program. Also, please do not hesitate to leave us a comment if you have any further questions on the topic.
