Do you know what Search Anything is?
Search Anything is meant to help you, literally, find anything, but although it might be presented as a search tool that is superior to others, it is quite literally useless. According to our research team, it redirects all search queries to Yahoo Search, and the results that are shown are not modified. Of course, this is great news because there are plenty of potentially unwanted programs (PUPs) that redirect to search.yahoo.com and also inject ads and other suspicious links. That being said, a tool that only reroutes to a different tool cannot be considered useful. If you enjoy Yahoo services, delete Search Anything and then set Yahoo Search as your default search provider instead of searchanything.co/search.html. Of course, we are not telling you to remove this PUP. That is something that you need to decide on your own.
Search Anything is introduced to Google Chrome users at searchanything.co, and the installer can be found at chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/search-anything/kpmfhganacckofmekdnokhamfkdfmfnc. The Chrome Web Store has been employed to spread Safeplex Search and Speed Test Guide as well, both of which were created by the same company just like Search Anything itself – Innover Group. The description on the Chrome Web Store installer page suggests that the PUP can offer a custom search experience and that it offers quality features that allow accessing the web search, finding relevant results, browsing images, videos, and news, and also saving time when finding information. It all sounds great, but the bottom line is that the extension does not offer anything that beneficial at all. This is the number-one reason why it is classified as a potentially unwanted program.Search Anything screenshot

Some customers might identify Search Anything as a browser hijacker because it replaces the default search provider on Google Chrome to searchanything.co/search.html. Well, if that is done with your knowledge, it is not a hijacker per se. Of course, if you do not remember downloading the PUP, you have all the right to call the search tool a hijacker. One thing to note is that if you do not remember installing the extension, or if you remember executing a bundled installer, there is a good chance that other threats – or, at least, PUPs – exist on your operating system. Install a malware scanner you can trust, and let it inspect your entire operating system thoroughly. If malware or PUPs are found, we suggest performing the removal as soon as possible. If you are not sure that you can clear your browser and your operating system all on your own, you can always use tools that were created to do that automatically.
Have you considered installing legitimate security software to guard your operating system and web browsers? If you have not, and if you are now facing several threats, this is the perfect time to install it. A legitimate anti-malware tool will automatically remove Search Anything along with anything else that might require it. Another option is to delete the PUP manually, and the step-by-step instructions below explain how to get rid of the undesirable extension from Google Chrome. At the time of analysis, this was the only web browser that the extension was compatible with. If you find that you need to remove Search Anything from a different browser, do not hesitate to leave a comment below. We will help you.

In non-techie terms:
Search Anything is meant to offer web search services, but it does not appear to offer anything that you cannot find elsewhere. In fact, this search tool redirects all searches to Yahoo Search, and this is a great alternative to the PUP. Well, if Yahoo Search is a trusted search tool, why should you delete the PUP? The thing is that you simply do not need it. Furthermore, while you are browsing the web via it, it tracks information about you, and there is no point in that, which is why we believe it is best to remove Search Anything. You can eliminate this potentially unwanted program using the guide above, or you can install a trusted anti-malware tool to have it eliminated automatically. This is the best option if you have found other threats or if you are ready to enhance the security of your entire operating system.
