MyChristianPortal Removal Guide

Do you know what MyChristianPortal is?

Perhaps you want to keep in touch with the brothers and sisters of your faith, and you’re trying to use the modern technology to help you do that. That’s great. But whatever you do, please don’t use MyChristianPortal. The name of this application might sound nice. After all, wouldn’t we want to have everything in one portal, right at our fingertips? That actually sounds nice, but let’s not use this application to achieve it. If you happen to have this extension on your browser, remove MyChristianPortal today following the manual removal instructions at the bottom of this entry.

This browser extension is compatible with Chrome and Firefox. It also comes from a well-known extension family called the Mindspark Toolbar group. All the programs from this group look like they can provide users with some useful functions. For instance, there have been WatchMyTVShows Toolbar, Get Speed Test Fast, MyDocsHere, and many other applications from the same group. Just like MyChristianPortal, these programs sound like they can enhance your web browsing experience, but the truth is that the other aspects of this program are way to obnoxious to even consider it a reliable tool.

Of course, MyChristianPortal isn’t a malicious computer infection. Even if you were not aware of it, you installed it yourself. What’s more, this app also has official distribution websites, and so, we can see that it doesn’t hide its presence. In fact, you can also find the application on the Chrome Web Store. When we open the app’s page there, we can see that officially, only 4 accounts have added this extension to their Chrome browsers. So at least, this app hasn’t reached many people.MyChristianPortal Removal GuideMyChristianPortal screenshot

The description for this program says that with MyChristianPortal you can “find all the Christian resources you need – Bible Verses, Holiday recipes, Christian music, and more.” It also says that you can “find all the necessary resources you need from one place for FREE.” And if that’s really something you’ve been looking for; this offer might seem tempting.

However, what if you have no idea what MyChristianPortal is? What if you never wanted to this something like that on your browser? How come it’s still there, and why do we say that you installed it yourself? Well, that’s actually the case.

The thing with potentially unwanted programs like MyChristianPortal is that they have official and unofficial distribution sources. So, this extension might also come bundled with freeware or through various pop-ups. If you encounter multiple pop-up ads when you browse the web, one of them must be responsible for bringing MyChristianPortal to you. And while it is possible to close all those pop-ups without too much difficulty, some users forget about it, and end up interacting with them. If that’s what you’ve done, it’s no surprise that this extension was added to your browser.

Some people might also ask, what’s the big deal? MyChristianPortal just ads more functions to my browser, why delete it? Well, while it is true that this application provides you with the aforementioned features, we mustn’t forget that it also comes with third-party advertisements. The app also performs a number of modifications on your browser, which allows it to collect information on your browsing history. In turn, with the information collected, this app could generate custom commercial ads.

You are not obliged to click those ads, but they would be in your way whenever you browse the web. Also, the ads content would be based on your likes and preferences, which would only increase the possibility of your clicking them. Which is exactly what MyChristianPortal wants.

While such promotion and advertising strategies are not illegal, they could still prove to be dangerous because browser extensions do not review the commercial content they promote. Thus, MyChristianPortal might unwittingly expose you to dangerous websites. Before any of that happens, remove MyChristianPortal from your browser and then scan your computer with the SpyHunter free scanner. Since potentially unwanted programs tend to travel in packs, you might have more unwanted apps installed. Remove them all automatically, and then make sure that you don’t need to worry about anything like that again.
