Do you know what CobInt Trojan is?
CobInt Trojan is a malicious infection that is used as a key to vulnerable systems. It is a malware downloader Trojan. Thus, depending on what its creators want it to do, it can download more malicious payload on the affected system, and it can also open a backdoor that allows the criminals to control the compromised machine.
Although it might be hard notice how or when this infection enters your system, you have to remove CobInt Trojan as soon as possible. Please scroll down to the bottom for the manual removal instructions to get rid of it.
There are different types of CobInt Trojan out there, and it can reach users in various ways. However, it is usually delivered via spam email. The spam email that delivers this infection comes either with an outgoing hyperlink or an attached Microsoft Word document (which is not a genuine document of course). If users click that hyperlink or opens the MS document and enables macros, they automatically initiate the malware download.
Depending on what kind of module is installed on the affected system, the malware is able to perform various actions. For example, one module allows CobInt Trojan to make screenshots and store them in the system. Afterwards, the collected information is sent over to its command and control server (C2). Aside from that, the Trojan can also get a list of all the running processes on your computer, and then send that list over to its C2, too. It is rather hard to say what else CobInt Trojan could do because once the reconnaissance stage is over, the plan of action may differ from system to system. It all depends on what those who are responsible for C2 decide to do.
So, if we wanted to tell you more about this infection, we could only give you a list of the generic Trojan functions, all of which could be employed by the people controlling this infection. Seeing how CobInt Trojan is a malware downloader, if you get infected with this threat, you can only expect the pile of dangerous intruders to grow in your system. And the most annoying thing is that you may not even notice that something is off. Trojans are not ransomware or rogue antispyware programs (albeit they are all related). Trojans tend to remain hidden for a very long period of time.
If you have a security program installed on your system, you should run regular system scans. Make sure that your security program is also updated because it needs to have the latest malware definitions to protect you and your system from the most recent threats. Arguably, CobInt Trojan is a rather old infection, but Trojans tend to re-emerge because they are often used to distribute other malware. Hence, by performing regular system scans, you would detect CobInt Trojan earlier (provided you have been infected with it), and you would also prevent other dangerous infections from entering your system.
Finally, please be very careful when you encounter new emails from unknown senders. Our research team says that CobInt Trojan usually comes with the spam campaign that looks like it has been sent out by the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA). The subject line is usually in the Russian language, which allows us to assume that users in Russia and other Russian-speaking countries might be the main target of the criminals behind CobInt Trojan.
If the email from unknown senders comes with an outgoing link or it has an attached file, and the message urges you to open that file, that’s a definite red flag. You can still scan the file with your security tool, but it would be for the best to simply delete the email and forget all about it.
To remove CobInt Trojan manually, you need to delete the file that launched the infection. It will probably be on your Desktop or in your Downloads folder. If you are not sure that you can terminate this infection on your own, do not hesitate to acquire a powerful antispyware application. After all, it would help you delete CobInt Trojan and all the other potential threats that have entered your system. Do everything you can to make your computer clean again.

In non-techie terms:
CobInt Trojan is a silent infection that doesn’t want to draw your attention. However, you have to detect and terminate this program as soon as possible. If you allow this Trojan to remain on your system, it will share information about your system with cybercriminals, and it will download more malware onto your PC. Protecting yourself from such programs can be quite challenging, so please do not hesitate to acquire a powerful security application if need be.
