BlackWorm RAT Removal Guide

Do you know what BlackWorm RAT is?

BlackWorm RAT is a Trojan infection that can be used as a remote access tool to collect information from the affected system and to upload more malware. Trojans are sneaky and genuinely dangerous infections because they can remain on your system for quite a while before you notice that something is wrong. So how do you fight something like that? It is important that you run regular system security scans with a licensed antispyware application. You have to detect and remove BlackWorm RAT and other similar infections as soon as possible.

This tool was created in 2014 by malware developers in the Middle East. Over the years, the infection was edited and changed by various programmers. Initially, it was associated with a hacker group that is thought to have had close ties with the Syrian government. It is common for governments to have hacker groups at their own disposal because wars often take place in the cyber-world, too. However, what happens when malicious tools used by such actors get old? Well, they might become an open-source project, or they just get abandoned.

As far as we know, BlackWorm RAT also became an open-source project but has been abandoned since then. It doesn’t mean, however, that it cannot be used even today by some malevolent third party. This Trojan could reach you through a spam email message or through a freeware download. The point is that BlackWorm RAT and other similar infections enter target systems surreptitiously, and then they can perform an entire palette of dangerous functions that can eventually throw you off. Although Trojans do not necessarily cripple the target system, they can be used as reconnaissance tools, and they can steal important information. Therefore, you have to protect your system from such intruders right now.BlackWorm RAT Removal GuideBlackWorm RAT screenshot

We have mentioned already that the things BlackWorm RAT does depend on the person who controls it. When someone gets a hold of this infection, there is not much one can configure. The Trojan allows only entering the IP address that will function as the command and control (C2) center. After that, when BlackWorm RAT enters the target system, it automatically establishes the connection with this C2 center to inform them about the newest victim. Once the connection is established, BlackWorm RAT can receive commands from its “nest” about what it is supposed to do next.

And the truth is that this Trojan can perform a lot of tasks. The infection has a list of functions that can be often attributed to Trojans. For example, it can kill critical Windows Processes and block specified websites, thus preventing you from opening certain pages. To remain on your system longer, BlackWorm RAT can disable Task Manager, Registry Editor, and even the System restore. In some cases, the Trojan can also block your keyboard and mouse input, thus, making it very hard to remove it. You have to move before any of this happens.

Aside from the main functions, we have also found that BlackWorm RAT can copy itself to USB drives and create auto-run entries. In other words, if you plug your flash drive into the computer that is infected with this Trojan, the infection automatically enters the drive, and then the next time you plug it into your (or any other computer), BlackWorm RAT runs the installation automatically, and yet another system gets infected with the tool. Aside from using USB drives for distribution, BlackWorm RAT can also copy itself into P2P sharing locations. So if your system is connected to some P2P network, the Trojan can spread through that, too.

Prevent this infection from spreading further by removing BlackWorm RAT today. You just need to remove one file if you want to get rid of this infection manually. On the other hand, there might be more dangerous programs installed on your computer, and you should get rid of them all, too. The best way to determine just how many unnecessary apps you have on-board is a full system scan. Scan your computer with a powerful antispyware tool, and if more dangerous programs are detected, terminate them all automatically. Please do not hesitate to employ all the measures possible to protect your personal data from malicious theft.

In non-techie terms:

BlackWorm RAT is a dangerous tool that can be used by various actors to infect and control multiple computer systems. Although it is an old infection, it can always be used again. It might be hard to determine or notice that this Trojan is there on your computer. Thus, it is necessary to run regular system scans with your antispyware application. Please bear in mind that malware programs often travel in packs, and this Trojan can be just one of the many infections currently plaguing your system.
