Do you know what SearchConverters is?
SearchConverters sounds like a program that offers a search tool for converters specifically. In reality, it offers nothing. It redirects users’ searches to Yahoo Search, but the shown results are not normal. They are modified and should present ads and sponsored links. Unfortunately, it does not look like trusting these ads and links is a good idea, even if the provider is able to personalize the service and make the modifications attractive. If you realize this already, and you want to remove SearchConverters as soon as possible, we have a few important tips to share with you. If you do not understand how this potentially unwanted program (PUP) works or why it could be dangerous, keep reading, and you will learn why we recommend deleting it.
Google Chrome users are the ones that can install SearchConverters onto their browsers, and they can do that for free. If you have installed this PUP, it is likely that you have found it on the Chrome Web Store (chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/searchconverters/gfobmhdnbhffpacjhoppkgmadopigcfe). At the time of research, there was no download website that presented the PUP in an official manner. We are also unaware of any third-party installers that could be used for its distribution. That being said, it is always possible that you could face suspicious extensions on random websites and attached to other pieces of software. If you remember downloading SearchConverters along with something else, examine your system with a genuine malware scanner as soon as possible. We have the same advice for those dealing with StreamBrosSearch, BestPDFSearch, SportsHDSearchs, and other clones of the PUP.
It is likely that the same party has created all of these clones, and that was done not to help people fulfill their needs for file converting. There is portal.search-converters.com, whose interface has an integrated file and currency converters, but this page is not introduced by SearchConverters itself. This extension was created to set feed.search-converters.com as the default search provider only. It looks like that is its only function. This search tool redirects to the modified search results on Yahoo Search, and that is why we do not recommend interacting with it. We also recommend getting rid of the PUP because it can spy on you with the help of web cookies. It can check your browsing preferences and history, and it can use this information to help the associated advertisers to place more appealing links along with normal search results. If the associated parties are not trustworthy – and that is something we cannot know at this point – the attractive links could be dangerous to click on.SearchConverters screenshot

Without a doubt, we recommend deleting SearchConverters. We see no reason why users would want to keep this extension installed, and since it could be dangerous to use as well, we are sure that you are ready for that. One option is to remove the PUP manually. The instructions below are very easy to follow, and all you have to do is pay attention to what you are doing. Of course, if this is your choice of action, make sure that you first scan your system to see if other threat exists and check whether you can delete them manually as well. If you have too many threats to handle, if you cannot perform the removal manually, or if you want to have your system’s protection strengthened from now on, install anti-malware software. It will automatically scan for threats, delete them, and reinstate full-time security.

In non-techie terms:
If you are trying to find a converter to convert files, SearchConverters is not the tool that will facilitate that. In fact, it does not offer anything useful at all. Once you install it, it changes the default search provider to introduce you to a search engine that automatically redirects to Yahoo Search. Unfortunately, the results are modified, and since we cannot identify the parties associated with the creator of the PUP, we cannot know if the links they inject can be trusted either. Needless to say, we believe that the best thing you can do is remove SearchConverters. If you want to do it manually, follow the instructions above, but note that if other threats exist (use a malware scanner to find out) and if you are interested in enhancing your system’s protection, implementing trusted anti-malware software is best.
