Do you know what VidSearch is?
Do not be mistaken, VidSearch has nothing to do with video searches. At least, not specifically. You might be able to use the suspicious tool to find videos on other platforms, but that is because it works as a search engine, and so you can use it in the same way as you would other search engines. That being said, it is unfair to equate it to other reliable search engines, because it is NOT reliable. Our team warns that it redirects and shows sponsored links after modifying what we would identify as normal results. Needless to say, you want to make sure that you are being safe, and that is why we recommend removing VidSearch. If you are worried that you cannot delete this PUP (potentially unwanted program) yourself, we have a few tips that, we are sure, will make the process easier.
According to our researchers, VidSearch does not have a website that would offer its installer in an official manner. However, its installer can be found on the Chrome Web Store. Did you find this installer on chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/vidsearch/daflhdlcccfhdmilfjjapjnacnakmndg yourself, or where you redirected to this page? That could happen when you visit unreliable websites or when adware (ad-supported software) enters your operating system. In any case, using the Chrome Web Store installer is much safer than using some random third-party downloader that might be set up to promote VidSearch along with other suspicious extensions or apps. Without a doubt, scanning the system with a legitimate malware scanner is a good idea if you have used an unfamiliar installer to acquire the PUP.
Just like SearchProConverter, MusicStreamSearch, RadioSearches, and numerous identical applications, VidSearch is associated with a unique page that might seem attractive to its visitors. This page is portal.vid-search.com, and if you visit it, you can find a free PDF converter, a free calculator, and a few other widgets. In the center of the page, you can find a search dialog box. We do not know how exactly this page could be introduced to people because it is not presented after the installation of VidSearch. Instead, this PUP only presents feed.vid-search.com as the default search provider. It redirects to Yahoo Search, but the results are modified by the PUP, and so we do not recommend trusting them. Note that the PUP also reads your browsing history, and so that could help show very attractive search results. However, that does not matter that they can be trusted. The advertisers are not disclosed, and that makes them unpredictable.VidSearch screenshot

You can choose to delete VidSearch from Google Chrome manually or with the help of anti-malware software. The first option suits only those who know that other threats do not exist and those who can perform the steps shown below on their own. The second option suits anyone, and it is the one our research team recommends choosing. Not only can anti-malware software automatically remove VidSearch but also ensure protection against threats in the future. A PUP is not exactly what you need to worry about too much, but if your system remains unprotected, it could soon be attacked by ransomware, trojans, and other serious threats. So, what are you going to do?
Remove VidSearch from Google Chrome
- Open the browser and enter chrome://extensions into the address bar.
- Click Remove in the box representing the PUP.
- Enter chrome://settings/clearBrowserData into the address bar.
- Select a preferred time range, mark boxes, and then click Clear data.
In non-techie terms:
VidSearch sounds like an app that can help search for videos, but all it offers is a search tool that cannot even provide users with beneficial services. When you enter search keywords into the browser’s address bar, the PUP redirects to Yahoo Search. The problem is that the results you are shown are modified, and they are likely to include sponsored links. Due to this, we do not recommend trusting or using it. If you want to delete VidSearch from your Google Chrome browser, you have a few options to consider. You can try following the guide above, if you want to eliminate the PUP manually, but if you have other threats to deal with and the security of your system to figure out, this is not the best option. Instead, we recommend installing legitimate anti-malware software. It can automatically erase all threats and ensure protection against those that you might face in the future.
