I have the "micro antivirus 2009" bs on my laptop and desktop computers - I mistakenly installed what I thought was a windows media player update on the desktop and I don't know how the hell it got on my laptop. I followed the manual removal instructions for my desktop and Internet Explorer is still pretty much screwed. When I exclusively use Mozilla Firefox there are no problems...but it has completely decimated my laptop. Im going to try the manual removal instructions for my laptop but I'm not very optimistic.. if anybody else can help definitely post.

I forgot to add - it also did something to the video driver so that if you boot into safe mode, it BSODs. Or at least it seems to.

MAV2k9 has been updated: it removed the capability to run regedit or task manager.
To kill it, I had to run:

SmitFraudFix (which did not delete it, but allowed me to run regedit & task mgr)
run task mgr, and kill a couple of things, with 2009 in the name,
use reg edit to remove the reg entries,
remove the MAV2k9 directory AND the AV2k9 directories from program files
run smitfraudfix again to finish cleaning.

Is micro av an off-shore company? Can they be sued? Basty nastards.

it seems that the micro antivirus 2009 has updated itself and is immune to this removal process. it has reinfected itself again on my machine and is now new and improved - and I can't figure out a way of eliminating it. i'm actually visiting this page from another computer because the virus is redirecting all of my google searches related to removing micro antivirus. if anyone has new information on removing this virus please post. the version i have is called "micro antivirus 2009"

Thanks for the help; I've removed the spyware. But the problem is, after i removed the spyware, some other problems appeared. My screen started blinking occasionally causing everything on the screen disappears for a few seconds and reappear. Worst still, I can't even open my computer or even control panel etc. So can you give me some help? Thanks!!
